Every page has one thing on it. A child who has just picked up a pencil cannot choose where to begin, so the book chooses for them: a dot marks the start, numbered arrows show the direction, and the row fades from a solid model to dotted copies to an empty space, so the help falls away as the hand gets steady.

The strokes come first because letters are made of them. Straight down, across, around, and the curve that becomes C, G, O and S. By the time the alphabet starts, the hand has already drawn every shape it needs.

Books 1 and 2 come in two editions. They teach exactly the same thing; only the child in the pictures changes. Book 3 has one edition with both children in it.
